Daniel Kaluuya and Visionary Fashion Designer Jide Osifesco Drop Limited-Edition NOPE X Jide Osifesco Capsule

Universal City, Calif., July 12, 2022 — Daniel Kaluuya collaborates with visionary fashion designer Jide Osifeso to launch an exclusive, limited-edition capsule NOPE x JIDE OSIFESO, inspired by Jordan Peele’s new horror epic, Nope (in theaters July 22).

The capsule draws inspiration from Peele’s metafictions and the film’s in-world iconography, extending the story and world of Nope through design and fashion. Osifeso has created a provocative capsule based on his signature deconstructed, layered design ethos.

Featured are T-shirts, a hat, and sweatshirts, including an orange hoodie inspired by a vintage crew shirt from Universal Pictures’ 2002 film, The Scorpion King that Kaluuya’s character, OJ Haywood, wears.

The NOPE x JIDE OSIFESO capsule is available now at nope.movie/merch.

Conceived as a celebration of Black artistry, Daniel Kaluuya brought in Jide Osifeso to create this limited-edition drop, which was developed in partnership with Universal Pictures and Monkeypaw Vice President of Culture & Impact Keisha Senter and Monkeypaw Creative Director and Nope producer Ian Cooper.

“There’s an evocative, understated power to Jide’s work that I’ve always admired,” Daniel Kaluuya says. “His designs are distinct, intimate and of impeccable quality. Above all, his clothing is always where we are, creating a bridge between the timely and the timeless. He was the perfect artist to create this limited-edition capsule for Nope and we are blessed to have the opportunity to share with the world.”

Jide Osifeso is a multidisciplinary creative director who works across art, music and fashion. He is the founder, creative director and designer of HYMNE [him], a Los Angeles-based contemporary brand described as a conversation between life and art.

“I love art that creates memories and that connects people to one another,” Jide Osifeso says. “Jordan Peele’s films do that for our culture, so it was an honor to work with Daniel to create this capsule for Nope.”

Images of the capsule were modeled by film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Brandon Perea, and shot by acclaimed American photographer Kwaku Alston, who directed an exclusive spot for Nope this spring and also photographed the film’s one-sheet posters.

Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope. The film reunites Peele with Kaluuya (Get OutJudas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (HustlersAlice) and Steven Yeun (MinariOkja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery. The film co-stars Michael Wincott (HitchcockWestworld) and Brandon Perea (The OAAmerican Insurrection).

In the film, Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer star as a brother and sister who have inherited a horse ranch from their industry-legend father, carrying the torch of his craft as animal wranglers for film and television. To prepare for the film, Kaluuya had the opportunity to

train with the Compton Cowboys on owner Randy Savvy’s ranch. The Compton Cowboys’ mission is to highlight African American’s heritage in equestrian culture and uplift the community. So, in celebration of this capsule, a donation from Universal Pictures will be made to directly benefit the Compton Cowboys and their Compton Junior Equestrians program. Learn more at comptoncowboys.com.

About Compton Cowboys

In 1988 Mayisha Akbar founded The Compton Jr. Posse to provide local youth with a safe alternative to the streets, one that connected them with the rich legacy of black cowboys in American culture. Their small ranch is one of the very last in a formerly semirural area of the city that has been home to African-American horse riders for decades. From Mayisha’s youth organization came the Cowboys of today: black men and women from Compton for whom the ranch and the horses provide camaraderie, respite from violence, healing from trauma, and recovery from incarceration.
